For Ex-Sample

Each week, Madie, Evan and Alex share their love for music sampling and its major presence in the music industry. The gang will dive deep into popular artists and songs and play the samples that shape the music of today."

For Ex-Sample ran for 6 seasons and one spinoff season during my time at TMU. We strove to innovate and push the limits of what was possible on SpiritLive, TMU's campus radio. Our genre-bending ideas included a pre-recorded narrative finale for our first season, a myriad of guest stars acting as celebrities, live music production segments, and bringing in the Rock Band video game to play on air, just to name a few. For Ex-Sample was honoured with two nominations for Best SpiritLive show at our annual TARA Awards ceremony, and we were honoured to take home the win in 2023, following our third season.

As a writer and co-host, I would work closely with the rest of the team to research samples and other topics of conversation for the week. We would spend time each week preparing music, playlists, ideas for bits, and fun facts. Additionally, as our graphic designer, I would prepare each episode's thumbnail in advance of its live show date, and any graphics we would use during the show. During our broadcast, I operated remotely controlled cameras using a switcher board, while simultaneously managing our live stream on YouTube via OBS.
